Canvas is a Woman-Owned Small Business founded in 2007 in Huntsville, AL. We use every opportunity to grow as a company and serve our community. We support customers at the Redstone Arsenal, MDIOC, UTTR, WSMR, Fort Belvoir, and Fort Greely. Canvas provides technical and programmatic solutions in the fields of Engineering, Test and Evaluation, Program Management, Acquisition Management, and Integration and Logistics. We employ a skilled team of dedicated professionals, and we also recognize the importance of balancing work with family and community. Meet Our President & CEO

Jami Peyton

Jami Peyton

As President & CEO, Jami Peyton is responsible for total management of the Canvas organization. With a desire to form a culture of creative excellence in business practices, Jami founded Canvas in 2007. Her main focus during the first seven years in business has been on developing internal processes and procedures while fostering employee satisfaction and customer growth. In addition to her corporate responsibilities, Jami continues to perform technical analysis in direct support of her Department of Defense (DoD) customers. Prior to starting Canvas, she gained experience in the workforce supporting DoD, Department of Labor, and Department of Agriculture programs. Jami earned an undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance from Athens State University, a Master’s in Business Administration from Auburn University, and she is currently enrolled in the Systems Engineering certificate program at Georgia Tech. Jami is married to Mike Peyton, and they have four children. In her spare time, Jami is an artist, designer, and runner.

Vice President of Engineering Services

Mike Peyton is responsible for Canvas’ strategic growth and business development with a focus in the Engineering Business sector.  Mike joined Canvas in 2008, and prior to that he served as Chief Engineer at Sparta (2003-2008), Director at SRS Corporation (1998-2003), and Senior Engineer at Teledyne Brown Engineering (1988-1998). He has a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from UAH, and Bachelor’s degree from Murray State in Mechanical Engineering and Physics. Mike also leads a flight planning and data analysis subcontract at the Missile Defense Agency for Weapons and Missile Systems. He is married to Jami Peyton and has four children. 

Larry Couvillon

Larry Couvillon

Vice President of Acquisition Management Services

Larry Couvillon is responsible for corporate strategic growth and development. He contributes to setting strategic goals and objectives and ensuring overall success of the organization. Larry also assists with matters related to administration, finance, and technical areas in managing and supporting customer projects. He has over 20 years of experience in corporate leadership roles and program/project management as well as direct support to numerous clients within the federal government. Larry has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree in Management Information Systems and a Master’s of Science in Management (MSM) from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He is also a Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) and a Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP). Larry is married and has two daughters.

Tom Ryan

Tom Ryan

Vice President of Army Programs

Tom Ryan is responsible for Canvas’s Programmatic Business sector assisting our customers in effectively executing their programs through innovative solutions to complex problems. He is also responsible for Canvas Quality Management. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Tom performs programmatic analysis in direct support of Department of Defense customers. Tom is a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Army and has extensive experience supporting Army and Joint Program Offices. He earned an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Truman University and a Master’s in Business Management from Webster University. Tom is married to Virge Ryan and is the father of two children, four grandchildren, and three dogs.
