COVID Doesn’t Slow Down Canvas Community Outreach

Canvas is pleased to announce our employee giving fund, Be The Good, recently awarded $10,000 to three very deserving nonprofits in the Huntsville, AL area during this difficult time.

“In this funding cycle, we received 21 grant requests totaling more than $100,000,” states Be The Good 2020 Chair Aubree Hunter.“While the need is much greater due to COVID than what our young fund can provide, we are excited about the difference we will make with the three organizations our employees chose to fund.”

Grant Recipients:

Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama (BGCNA) – $5,000 With COVID-19, BGCNA had to pivot their programming to ensure their club members received vital care: food. Funds from Be The Good are providing nourishing meals, snacks, and an educational activity for two weeks.

Agape of North Alabama – $3,000 The COVID-19 pandemic created additional stress and trauma symptoms in some of the most vulnerable members of our community: children in foster care and the families who serve them. Be The Good funds will provide evidence-based therapy to local children in foster care who desperately need the resources.

Serving Hope Inc. – $2,000 Serving Hope provides job training in the hospitality and food industries for members of our community who may otherwise not have the opportunity to receive gainful employment. Be The Good funds will provide 15 students with an 18-week course of study, resulting in the students holding a five year national certification, which will aid them in finding a managerial position in the restaurant and/or hospitality industry.“Starting our employee giving fund in 2019 has been very satisfying for our employees. They enjoy being able to contribute and select where their contributions can make a difference,” states Hunter.“This fund is just one of the many things that makes Canvas unique.”

About Canvas Community Outreach: Canvas believes strongly in supporting the communities where our employees live. We fund requests focused on women, children, veterans, and education. Be The Good, our employee giving fund, allows Canvas employees the opportunity to give personal dollars through payroll deduction. Nonprofits are invited to apply for Be The Good funds all year long; however, grants are awarded twice a year. Eligible applications are shared with Canvas employees to determine results by voting.
